Death of Fanny Sarah (Seager) Robb

I’ve just received a copy of the death certificate for my 2 x great grandmother, Fanny Sarah Robb (nee Seager). Fanny died on 26th February 1851 at 33 Old Compton Street, Soho, London. She was 36 years old, and is described as the wife of William Robb, clerk, of the same address, who was present at her death. The cause of death is given as pneumonia – I think it says ‘6 days’ underneath, and then ‘certified’, though the writing is unclear.

Fanny had given birth to Charles Edward, my great grandfather, on 22nd January, at the house in Compton Street. This means she survived for more than a month after the birth, and it raises the possibility that her illness might not have been related to that event, though it remains a strong possibility.

William and Fanny had been married for fifteen years, during which time they had five children, of whom four survived. William married again, to Marianne Mansfield Palmer, three years later, in June 1854.
